Action Learning

The improvement process is delivered using "Action Learning" programmes, each designed to develop specific house capabilities using live projects. In addition to the delivery of business benefits this provides a process to transfer learning to the work environment, challenge weak practices and facilitate the development of improved, cross functional working relationships.

Action Learning programmes are normally carried out by multi discipline teams over around 3 months. This is long enough to deliver a result but short enough to avoid the team losing direction. With action learning projects the heart beat of the improvement process is defined as three or four 100 or 90 day projects.

Action learning programmes are supported by a structured focussed improvement template depending on the type of problem to be addressed this can include:

  • Asset improvement plan to address problems of reliability and support progress towards zero breakdowns and beyond;
  • Lean Improvement plan to support business process improvement and the reduction of non value adding activities;
  • Audit coaching steps to support the setting and improvement of shop floor best practice;
  • Early management project delivery of new products, equipment, processes or systems;
  • Innovation/step out product/service development.
